Northern NSW : Winter 2012 redo
Swinging success Knights support golf day Newcastle Knights players Evarn Tuimavave and Korbin Sims and recently retired teammate Ben Rogers swapped a football for golf balls and joined more than 40 teams at the Tamworth Charity Golf Day. The boys joined NBN's Mike Rabbitt on stage at the club for a question and answer session as part of the evening's activities. Now in its 15th year the Tamworth Golf Day is one of the Service's most popular community events attracting 164 players and raising an unprecedented $17,000. Its popularity continues with next year's event booked for Monday 13 May 2013. Save the date! Welcome Manilla All it takes is a group of 10 people with a passion and appreciation for the work of the Rescue Helicopter in their community and a new support group is formed. In just a few months the Manilla Volunteer Support Group organised a Golf Day which attracted 42 players and raised $1,500 in funds. We understand that the Group is now working on a couple of events with information sessions about the work of the Rescue Helicopter in the community. Golfers tee-off in Gunnedah Soggy conditions did not dampen enthusiasm for the Gunnedah Charity Golf Day. Gunnedah Volunteer Support Group Secretary, Gwenda Edmonds, said that despite heavy rain 120 golfers teed- off the event to raise $8,000. Ian Jordan from Gunnedah Golf Course said that conditions improved over the day which gave way for some excellent golf amongst the four person Ambrose teams with a team from Tamworth taking honours with a score of 53 and 3/8. The event was supported by the Namoi Valley Independent, Gunnedah Golf Club and the Woolworths Staff Club. A trailer load of support The Central Coast's Jim Clarkson and Paul Buffey donated a Christmas trailer packed full of goods. Together with friends and family Matt, Ally, Gail and Max, they sold raffle tickets from September to December raising $27,700.
