Northern NSW : Summer 2012-2013
In June 1992, the then General Manager, late Alan McMahon, wrote in the Lake Macquarie Post the first in a series of columns where he spoke about the activities of the Rescue Helicopter. In his column he said... No matter what the difficulties, we must cherish the Service. The many thousands of people who have been helped either personally or through friends or family will testify to that. Some 20 years later the Service still enjoys strong ties with local newspapers. Today The Newcastle Herald and The Star in Newcastle, the Central Coast Express Advocate, the Northern Daily Leader and many of the Rural Press newspapers generously provide space for the Service to promote its activities. The new partnership will see more interaction between Jets players and the Service with some game and merchandise packages to be donated to the Service for fundraising activities. In October, the Rescue Helicopter landed at Hunter Stadium with Cheryl Salisbury and Andy Roberts who delivered the Local Derby perpetual trophy and match balls to kick off the game against The Mariners.
