SEAN MAHER For the past two and a half years, Sean Maher has worked as an Air Crewman based in Tamworth. Sean has professional qualifications and training as an Air Crewman, rescue crewman, winch operator, HUET, rescue swimmer, trainer and assessor and aircraft engineer making him an asset to our organisation. When a call-out is made, Sean works with pilots and navigation equipment to ascertain the location and nature of the incident. As Air Crewman, he maintains situational awareness through the use of GPS, manages computer and aircraft maps as well as maintaining radio communication with emergency services. Prior to joining the Service, Sean served with the Australian Navy for eight years and as an instructor for TAFE Aero Skills in Tamworth. According to Sean, working in a small team environment is essential to completing missions safely and giving patients the best chance. ‘T he most rewarding part of my job is helping others but there is nothing like heading home at the end of the day to wife of seven years, Renee, and two young boys Cody and Liam,’ he said.
