Page 4 Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service - Rescue Spring 2012 What’s on? Transport Awareness Day What started in 1994 as a small group of truck companies seeking to promote transport safety is now one of the community’s most successful events. The Newcastle and Hunter Region Road Transport Awareness Group will hold its annual day at Newcastle Foreshore on Sunday 4 November 2012. The event attracts more than 150 trucks and trade displays. Since it was established the group has raised more than $1 million for the Rescue Helicopter. Presented by Agriplex Group. 28 October Walcha Mountain Bike Teams Challenge 4 November Newcastle and Hunter Region Road Transport Awareness Day, Newcastle Foreshore 18 November Newcastle Race Day at Newcastle Jockey Club Every week Helicopter Housie at more than 10 Clubs across the region - see page 6 for details Celebrating 21 years, the AHA (NSW) Newcastle Variety Bash departed on Sunday 20th May with a record number of 67 cars. Two hundred people travelled almost 2,500 km for the seven day event on an emotion charged journey through outback NSW. Service General Manager, Richard Jones, joined the Bash for the first three days. The Group raised more than $531,000 for Variety to assist kids with sickness, disabilities or special needs.
