Northern NSW : Autumn 2011
Corporate Support for Great Wall Trek! Forsythe’s Recruitment has lead the way in corporate suppor t of staff members wanting to venture out on a trip of a lifetime to trek the Great Wall of China. After receiving information on the Service’s latest fundraising venture, staff were asked to present a proposal as to why they should be selected to go on the trip. Initially putting up one place, Forsythe’s Recruitment offered to pay the registration fee and also provide support to the chosen person and their fundraising. Two people were finally selected from the six applicants, Michelle Faithfull from Newcastle and Andrew Klerck from the Tuggerah office. Michelle’s reasons for joining the trip are numerous and include her strong commitment to be able to ‘give back’. She has been involved with numerous local charities and their activities and after watching the helicopters fly over head for years while playing touch football close by, she often thought of getting involved with the Service. Michelle also enjoys travel and is a keen photographer so to take part in this trip was an opportunity to combine many of her passions. Andrew Klerck has always wanted to go to China and lists his interests as the culture, food and fascinating history. He too has a strong sense of giving back and sees the trip as a chance to meet new people and embrace new challenges. Hearing of a family member’s experiences while living in China has made Andrew even more enthusiastic to explore the country and he has been busy planning his fundraising program. A new initiative for the Service, the Great Wall of China Trek was launched in December and has attracted much interest from the local business community with Westpac Central Coast and NIB Newcastle each registering a place on the trip, both which will be used as part of a staff incentive program resulting in a lucky staff member joining the trek.
