Singleton is superb Gloucester is glamorous Gunnedah is great Support Group Milestones The Singleton Volunteer Support Group celebrated their outstanding achievements of 2011 by presenting a $50,000 donation cheque to the Ser vice on behalf of the Singleton community at the group’s Annual General Meeting. This brings their donation total since the group’s inception in 1997 to over $260,000. This years record income has been raised primarily through three large raffles, by the distribution and collection of money tins through many local businesses, merchandise stalls at local events and through weekly meat and vegetable tray raffles at the Imperial Hotel. Re-elected support group Chairperson Jayne Eather said “ the support shown by the Singleton community towards our fundraising efforts has been truly overwhelming and inspirational”. The Gunnedah Volunteer Suppor t Group celebrated its 10th Anniversar y with a get together for the volunteers and local businesses that have suppor ted the group. General Manager Richard Jones was presented with a cheque of $261,00 0 representing the money raised over the ten years. Since then the Gunnedah group has catered at clearance sales and a Charity Bowls Day culminating in a day of three Open Gardens at Mullaley. Locals flocked to admire lush grass, sweet scented flowers and enjoy the catering provided by the Suppor t Group. Many thanks go to the owners of ‘Tourable’, ‘Mt Nombi’ and ‘Carnar von’. The 13th annual Dinner Auction, recently held by the Gloucester Support Group, was once again a great success. The auctioneers, Dick Walshe and Ashley Hollingsworth contributed greatly to the enjoyment and success of the night. The total sum of $26,544 was raised with an ama zing variety of goods on offer. Dinner coordinator, Lynn Slack, wishes to thank the very generous Gloucester community for the donation of goods and money and the bidders who gave so generously on the night, as well as AGL Upstream Investments who were major sponsors for the dinner.
