Northern NSW : Summer 2011
Wheat growers in the north west are experiencing a good season and many are planning to donate a few tonnes of their crop to the Service this year. Farmers can nominate a tax deductible donation of grain by quoting the NGR No 12650596 at the Graincorp sample stand and assigning it to the best cash price of the day or by calling a local Grain Corp representative. Families on remote cropping farms know the value of the helicopter to their community. In 2007, eight year old Joe Marshall broke both his legs when he came off his motor bike on the property. The Tamworth Helicopter and crew flew Joe to the Westmead Children’s Hospital. The next year the Marshall family donated 22 tonnes of grain for the Service. The Annual Ducks4Dollars on Australia Day, 26 Januar y 2012 will be the ninth consecutive ‘race’ for this fundraising event which raises money for Hunter Branch Surf Life Saving Clubs and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. It is anticipated that after this year’s event the amount of money raised will exceed $500,000 from the sale of both yellow or $5 ducks or red corporate $100 ducks.
