Northern NSW : Spring 2011
Stockton to Birubi Beach Walk New sponsor for race day at Wyong On May 28, 2011 a dedicated team of 48 walked 32 kilometers from Stockton breakwall to Birubi Beach car park. The walk, now in its third year, raised an astounding $33,000 for the Service. Organiser Karen Cooper of Caltex service station Maryland, said the walk was a huge success and this is evident in the growth of numbers and support over the past 3 years. The walk started at 5:30am with support from 4WD escorts, first aid officers and catering crews. Karen and her husband Scott Cooper have locked in April 21, 2012 for next year’s challenge so put it in your calendar and get training for another fantastic day on the sand! John Boyd one of the walkers to Birubi presents the results of his fundraising to the Service’s Kieron O’Toole LOGO – OAS Technology group A happy group of supporters at the Wyong Race Day The annual Wyong Charity Race Day took place on 15 July and we welcomed new major sponsor of the day, OAS The Technology Group. The popular race day saw 180 supporters rally together to raise approximately $9,000 for the Ser vice whilst enjoying all the fun and excitement of the race day! Other sponsors include Serendipity Spelling and BTS Energy who sponsored individual races and Stockland Bay Village retailers provided raffle prizes and silent auction items. Special mention must go to Wyong Rugby League Group, Advance Design and Westpac for their ongoing support and race sponsorship of this charity event each year. The day would not have been so successful without the help and suppor t from Tony Drew and his staff at Wyong Race Club. Also thanks to our wonderful volunteers Helen & Alyssa Kale, Monique Condon & Sue Ferguson from Westpac for their assistance.
