Northern NSW : Winter 2011
Hangar Hoe-down Partying on the Plains In March Hamish McLaren and Friends, Paul Dooley, Brendon Blowes, Rebel Thomson and Kevin Anderson transformed the NENW Hangar for a Black Tie with a Touch of Cowboy Cocktail Party. The cowboy/ country themed evening was very special for the Service because it was the first, major public fundraising event hosted at the new Tamwor th base. A special feature of the event was the fact guests were able to enjoy fresh air on the Tamworth Airport tarmac after a special event zone was approved by council, this enabled guests to get up-close to the Service’s Tamworth-based BK117. Special guests for the night included Sam “the lamb man” Kekovich and Murray Har tin, who both pleased the crowd! The bi-annual Spring Plains Ball was also held in the New England Nor th West during March. More than 286 people, a record number for the event. Special thank you should be given to the organising committee who put a lot of time and effort into making sure the evening is enjoyable for all in attendance. A big thank you also to gold sponsors for the night: Auscott, Namoi Cotton, Cotton Seed Distributors, Queensland Cotton, Landmark, Incitec Pivot.
