Northern NSW : Winter 2011
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service has become one of 108 Australian charities who banded together to change the way Australians think about including charities in their will. Include a Charity is a web- based organisation designed to raise awareness of the ease and effectiveness of leaving a gift to charity in your will. The program encourages people to consider leaving a gift to charities after considering family and friends. Zen Imports Pty Ltd recently donated more than $15,000 worth of tools and equipment to the Service. By helping people understand that they can leave a gift to charity and still consider their loved ones, Include A Charity hopes to make leaving gifts to charities a real option for all Australians. In the past the Service has been the beneficiary of a few bequests, most notably of which resulted in the naming of “Mildred” the Newcastle based Bell 412. The purchase of Mildred was only possible through a generous and substantial donation made by a lady from Nelson’s Bay Each pilot, crewman and engineer now carries and uses a Leatherman Wave, a high quality multi-purpose Zen helps to light up operations in 1993. The bequest was large enough at the time to convince the Board of Directors the Service could afford to purchase the aircraft hence, Mildred’s is now above the door of the 412. Other charities being supported by Include a Charity include: RSPCA, Greenpeace and the Sydney Children’s Hospital- Randwick. For more information visit www.includeacharity.com.au tool which is extremely versatile and useful for aero- medical operations work. They were also issued a Led Lenser P7, a powerful compact torch ideal for night work or looking into the dark sections of helicopter engines and transmissions, each. Zen has also provided a Led Lenser M7R for each helicopter to assist in search and rescue work. Zen is one of Australia’s leading distributors in the outdoor, work wear, recreation, gift, kitchen and hospitality industry. Brands distributed by Zen can be found in thousands of retail stores throughout Australia, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific. All Zen products are at the cutting edge of design, technology and quality. Service engineer Matt Wallace using his new tools provided by Zen Imports.
