Kurri Kurri Public School took out the honours of the challenging 15km course, closely followed by St Joseph’s Primary from Charlestown, with a second team from Kurri Kurri Public taking out third spot. Now in its third year nearly 300 of the region’s mountain bike and riding enthusiasts registered for the event, which included a 60km dash, 60km general ride, 40km and 20km, along with the popular 10km family ride. Developed in conjunction with the Kurri Mongrels, support was provided by the Kurri Kurri Rotary Club, St John Ambulance and NSW Rural Fire Service. Sponsors included Quarry Mining, Orica, Drift Bikes, Newcastle Coal Infrastructure, Australian Workers Union, Cougar Mining Group, Loxford Fabrications, AMP Control, Newcastle MACPAC, Station Hotel Kurri, Kurri Mongrels, Custom Laser Engraving and Bean Boss Coffee.
