Northern NSW : Rescue Winter 2016
Hunter golf backers Another big thank you to the many sponsors and supporters of the annual Hunter Golf Day held at Merewether on 22 February. These organisations include major sponsor Sibelco Australia which has supported the event for the past 23 years. Other sponsors included Veolia, Westpac, Monteath & Powys, B & B Supplies, Diamond Group, Crème Coffee Garage, AWU, Skildare, Wandiyali, Drayton’s Family Wines, Bishop Collins, CIBIS, Insurance House, BJ Howes, Secdata, Coastline Pools, Forsythes, Priority Business Lawyers, peoplefusion and Merewether Golf Club. Now in its second year, the Calrossy Cracker Carnival was another great night with about 4,000 people attending the event held at William Cowper Campus on 19 March. Gold coin donations taken on entry raised $4,014 while activities including market stalls, rides and local sponsorship help contribute a further $4,000. Calrossy cracker carnival Divas on the green 2016 The sixth annual Divas on the Green charity golf day was held again at Merewether Golf Club on 13 May attracting about 150 women. Now a tradition, participants donned colourful fancy dress and took to the course for a few hours of swings, fun and fundraising. The day raised $14,000, for the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation and the Service. Tasty initiative Subway has formed a new partnership with the food chain’s Northern NSW Board nominating the Service as its charity of choice. A family fun day at Merewether beach on 30 April featured a guest appearance from Subman and the helicopter. On the same day Subway offered ‘a buy one get one free’ promotion across 115 stores and incorporated a gold coin donation, raising in excess of $20,000.
