Northern NSW : Rescue Aut 2016
Fine food, wine and racing Now in its second year, the Moree Race Club’s Chopper Cup Charity Dinner & Race Day goes from strength to strength. Staged on 19 and 20 February, 150 guests this year dined on a five- course tasting menu from Relish and sipped matching wines provided by Allegiance Wines. Comedian- impersonator Greg Hayes provided great entertainment. Pacific National returned as a naming sponsor for the big event. Moree Race Club secretary, Michelle Gobbert, said the successful evening raised about $25,000 for the Rescue Helicopter. Ms Gobbert said Pacific National has been a main sponsor for the past two years and this year Port of Newcastle came on board as another sponsor. Magical mystery tour A great family weekend was enjoyed by participants in the Tamworth to the Tops Mystery 4WD Adventure on 12 and 13 March. The 81 people involved with 30 vehicles only found out their destinations at intervals throughout the weekend after heading off from Tamworth and travelling east through the Werrikimbe National Park. Hunter Golf Day It was another great success story on and off the course during the annual Hunter Golf Day at Merewether on 22 February. Our thanks go to major sponsor Sibelco Australia who has supported the event for the past 23 years. Under a perfect sky Sibelco fielded four teams in the tournament and provided caps for the 120 participants. Other sponsors included Veolia and Monteath Powys, B & B Supplies, Diamond Group, Beauford Hotel, The adventure raised about $6500 for the Service and special thanks goes out to sponsors Leicht’s Tyre and Auto (Peter Leicht), Tamworth 4X4 (Tim Young) and Ironman 4X4 (Andrew Reeve). Interestingly, 17 of the 25 vehicles from the 2015 Drover’s Run took part. Crème Coffee Garage, Awabakal, AWU and Skildare. Newcastle Knights Coach Nathan Brown chatted with local identity Mike Rabbitt during the presentation lunch. A special mention to stalwart Bob Edmun who was absent on the day but still holds the record of playing every year prior and is now the proud owner of a commemorative collection of 22 golf shirts – including this year’s .
