The first three months of the year were another busy period for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. One mission at the end of March involved airlifting a seriously injured 38 year old man from River Road, Bowling Alley Point near Nundle. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter had been tasked with a doctor and paramedic on board to assess the motorcyclist, who had suffered spinal injuries and lacerations after crashing through a barbed wire fence and spending 12 hours down an embankment. Tamworth Regional Council workers discovered the man about 11am on 30 March while upgrading the road. They found a motorbike off the side of the road before locating the man and raising the alarm. He was airlifted from the scene to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. Meeting the road ambulance at Coomba Park helipad on 15 March 4 Rescue Magazine AUTUMN 2016
