Northern NSW : Celebrating 40 years Rescue December2015
Grape day for pumpkins Plenty of energy at dinner auction Priceless contribution Good morning starshine Hallowed holes The Hastings Support Group staged a very successful Halloween Trick or Treat Day (31 October) at Cassegrain Winery. Feedback suggests everyone had a brilliant day. Certainly all the children and parents were smiling and volunteers had to pack up around them because they didn’t want to leave. At least 150 kids attended and $2,500 was raised through small donations at each activity and the barbecue. Many parents offered thanks for such a great ‘safe’ fun day for the kids. They all asked if it could be staged again next year and they promised to bring more people. Volunteers and helpers all worked incredibly hard to ensure the day was a success for those who came. Activities included pony rides, a jumping castle, tug of warriors, eyeball toss, face painting, apple bobbing, pumpkin bowling, and mummy wrap and run. Volunteers had more activities planned but there were not enough helpers. Anyone interested in helping with another children’s fun day please contact Kylie Morris email@example.com The Gloucester Dinner Auction on 5 September was a huge success with more than 130 people attending. A total of $22,398 was raised and this included raffle proceeds, donations and money from sponsors. The Gloucester Support Group sends a big thank you to those who donated auction items. A big thank you as well goes to AGL for sponsoring the dinner auction. Mention must be made of James and Casey Gooch from Gooch Real Estate who did a sterling job running the auction. Lynn and Geoff Slack and Barbara and John Ikin were recognised for their long-term dedication and commitment to the Gloucester Volunteer Group since its inception in 2001. For many years the Volunteer Support Group at Bulahdelah has worked tirelessly helping to raise awareness of the work of the Rescue Helicopter. In the past 12 months the small hard- working group has held a number of awareness and fundraising events. Our photograph shows Rusty Sargent, left, and Val Brown recently presenting Service Marketing Manager Chad Griffith with $17,000. The funds were raised during the annual festival, held over the October long weekend at the Coonabarabran Observatory. Coonabarabran Volunteers raised $5,300 from the Halloween-themed golf day (31 October). It was a great effort by the Support Group and community helpers along with local businesses. A big thank you goes to Katie and Paul from Beers Transport, the event’s major sponsors.
