In September the Gloucester Volunteer Support Group held its annual dinner, dance and auction at the Gloucester Soldiers and Memorial Club Auditorium. Raising $17,500 for the Service, the night was filled with fun and entertainment from Southern Under Stars. A successful auction was held on the night, run by James and Casey Gooch and Bill Dwyer from Gooch Agencies. The Gloucester Volunteer Support Group would like to thank its major sponsor, AGL, and all of those that attended and generously donated on the night. Dungog Pedalfest The Dungog Pedalfest hosted another successful fundraiser this year with more than 350 keen cyclists participating in a variety of rides. This year it raised an awesome $9,000 for the Service. The three-day event kicked off on Friday 5 September with a 6km “Kids and Cobwebs” ride and dinner at the Royal Hotel. Saturday began with a breakfast at Dungog Visitor’s Centre thanks to the Rotarians before a 22km and 17km ride. Sunday morning saw riders tackle an 11.5km mountain trek then a 48km road ride up and back from Chichester Dam. The group collectively rode thousands of kilometres, with spectators enjoying the bush dance, muffins and lamingtons. Next year Dungog Pedalfest will celebrate its 20th anniversary and will be held from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 September.
